Even though the range of Suunto watches is not as broad as Garmin’s, it can still be confusing to know which watches are suitable for triathletes.

To narrow down your choice, let’s first have a look at the main features you might be interested in:

Apart from price and esthetic, here are the features you need to consider for your next watch:

That’s an absolute must for triathletes. This mode allows you to record your swim, bike, and run into a single activity. It lets you focus on your race and not worry about starting and saving each activity separately. All watches listed at the end of this article have this feature.

Battery life used to be my second buying criterion. Apart from the triathletes racing full-distance triathlon, I would not be too concerned for the Suunto watches. All current Suunto models I listed have a stated battery life of 20 hours or more. In reality, it might be a couple of hours less than that, but it still gives you plenty of time to finish your race.

Currently, none of the Suunto watches for triathletes have internal music storage. If this is a must for you, you might want to check other brands.

Currently, you don’t get a full detailed map on the Suunto watches for triathletes. You, however, have route guidance.

Suunto has two series that triathletes can choose from: series 5 and series 9. They also have a series 7, which you might think is sitting between the two, but no, not at all. The series 7 is a completely different kind of watch. As there is no triathlon mode, I won’t go into details here.

If we look at the latest models of both series, the Suunto 5 PEAK (Amazon affiliate link) is cheaper than the Sunnto 9 PEAK (Amazon affiliate link) but has a shorter battery life, a smaller screen and is made out of plastic whereas the 9 PEAK is out of steel or titanium.

Now that you know the key features of the watch you are looking for, it is time to find yours! You can use the filters below to narrow your search or sort the watches by clicking on a column header.
The battery life is the manufacturer’s stated life using GPS (in hours).
